Genesis

EuroMaidan-Sachsen was founded as a result of violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces during nationwide protests in Ukraine. In february 2014, snipers have killed more than 100 people, almost 1000 were injured.

Reasons enough for Arnold Vaatz, Member of the German Bundestag and Deputy Chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group on human rights and humanitarian aid, to jointly initiate an ambulance transport. With the help of Johanniter Unfallhilfe e.V. (Landesverband Sachsen), a voluntary humanitarian organization, it became possible to bring heavily injured Ukrainians for medical treatment to Germany. Six of them received voluntary medical treatment in Oberlausitz-Kliniken gGmbH (Bautzen), municipal Hospital Dresden-Friedrichstadt and Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Dresden.

Following up on this, we continue our commitment in the context of civil aid. We support medical care of Ukrainians who have suffered from political violence since late 2013. Our organisation fosters efforts of the Ukrainian people towards a European future of their country. EuroMaidan-Sachsen is an independent organisation and expressly limited to assistance in emergency situations.
